What is Kundalini Energy?
Kundalini energy is the evolutionary and creative energy of the cosmos. Humans are an integral part of the universe, so this energy is also present within us. It influences our creative capacity and, above all, our ability to reach our maximum creative and spiritual potential.
To understand how Kundalini energy works, it’s necessary to understand what chakras are. Chakras are energy centers that influence the flow of energy within the human system. However, if you want to be very pragmatic, don’t consider chakras as ethereal energy centers. Rather, simply consider them as the glands within your body that influence your state of health and your state of consciousness.
The Relationship Between Chakras and Your State of Consciousness
By working on the chakras, it’s as if you’re improving the flow of energy within you; you’re actively changing the functioning of your organism and the chemistry within it. The body’s glands are the means through which the organism influences hormone production, and these hormones influence your state of consciousness.
The subject of chakras isn’t so difficult to understand if you stop assuming that these chakras are something ethereal. In reality, they are simply the glands within your body that manage the release of hormones that influence your inner state.
Kundalini Energy and Spiritual Evolution
Each of us has a certain level of consciousness and is at a specific stage of spiritual evolution. The level of consciousness is influenced by the energy flow within your system. Therefore, to raise your state of consciousness, it’s necessary to work purposefully on the energy blocks within you, on your fears, on your repetitive thought patterns.
It’s precisely through this work that Kundalini energy can ascend, and it’s through this work that your level of consciousness can improve. You can think of working with Kundalini energy as a process that makes the unconscious conscious.
Common Misconceptions About Kundalini Energy
One of the most widespread beliefs about Kundalini energy is that it’s activated only through Kundalini yoga. However, this is absolutely not the case. Any serious spiritual practice you put into action to experience spiritual enlightenment, a state of union, will lead you to experience the ascent of Kundalini energy as well.
Spiritual enlightenment and Kundalini energy are not separate subjects. In fact, the main goal of any serious spiritual practice is to promote the ascent of Kundalini energy, to promote the birth of a new consciousness within you.
The True Nature of Spiritual Practices
What’s not commonly taught in videos you can find online or in most books is that working with chakras means awakening the dormant parts of your brain, of your entire psychophysical system. The real purpose of any spiritual practice is to consciously change your inner chemistry.
Spirituality actually has to do with changing your psychophysical system. That’s why it’s so difficult to experience a state of union. Through meditation, through Kriya yoga, through any spiritual practice you decide to apply, you’re trying to consciously influence and change the chemistry of your psychophysical system.
Debunking the Myth of Dangerous Kundalini Energy
Now, let’s debunk one of the most common myths about Kundalini energy: that it’s negative or dangerous. This is a huge misconception. Kundalini energy is the creative and evolutionary energy of the divine – how can it be considered negative?
The reason why there are often accounts of people experiencing this energy and labeling it as negative is that most people have no idea what true spirituality is and what spiritual enlightenment really entails. Kundalini energy is infinitely positive, but it’s clear that if it’s activated without proper preparation or accidentally, the person experiencing a state of union or the effects of Kundalini energy won’t be ready for what they’re experiencing.
Spiritual enlightenment is not to be taken lightly. Spiritual enlightenment means the destruction of everything you are, of everything you think you know. It means the total destruction of your identity.
Accidental Activation of Kundalini Energy
Kundalini energy can also be activated accidentally, and even people who have no idea about spirituality or mysticism can experience, even if for a brief moment, Kundalini energy, and can become aware that there is something beyond the appearance of the world.
Kundalini energy can be activated in various spontaneous ways, for example:
- After childbirth for a mother
- By experiencing the beauty of nature or creation
- Through art, music, films, or paintings that celebrate the beauty of creation
- Due to deep suffering or a profound depressive state
- By observing the death of a person dying of old age
Personal Experiences with Kundalini Energy
I’m sharing these experiences to prepare you for what you too can experience if you decide to put a serious spiritual practice into action.
Some of the effects of the raising of Kundalini are inner visions – inner visions of geometric shapes representing the beauty and perfection of creation, inner visions of deities in fractal form, inner visions that don’t seem to have a particular meaning. Sometimes during the night, I happen to wake up to find myself in an involuntary state of union.
The Awakening of Perception
Another very marked effect is the awakening of the senses. In reality, the senses are not senses; perception is pure consciousness. What do I mean by awakening of the senses? I mean that my perceptions are tens of times more vivid than in the past. I can now perceive the beauty of creation everywhere. For instance, I can get emotional observing a common object or listening to a song.
Seeing Divine Intelligence
Perhaps the most incredible effect I’m experiencing lately is that reality is coming alive before my eyes. Everything I perceive now seems to be a direct expression of the universe’s Mind and Intelligence. It’s as if I’m seeing the world anew – a human body, a simple bottle, an everyday fork, a dog – all these objects and living beings are suddenly recontextualized. They’ve become vivid manifestations of the universe’s intelligence, beauty, and perfection, each one a unique expression of the cosmic whole. It’s like the hidden essence of everything has suddenly become visible, transforming the mundane into the extraordinary. This shift in perception is profound, turning the world around me into a living canvas of divine creativity.

David Hawkins is the only spiritual teacher I’ve come across who’s spoken about this kind of experience. I stumbled upon a video where he was discussing how the beauty of reality can profoundly move you. It was fascinating to watch – as he was describing the beauty of reality, he was looking at a simple vase of flowers. But here’s the thing that struck me: he started getting really emotional, to the point where he couldn’t even continue speaking. It hit me then – what was actually happening? David Hawkins, in that moment, wasn’t just talking about beauty; he was literally perceiving the divine in that ordinary vase of flowers.
Embracing Kundalini’s Transformative Power
In essence, Kundalini energy represents far more than just a spiritual concept – it is the very force of consciousness evolution within us. Through my personal journey and observations, I’ve come to understand that this divine creative energy isn’t something to be feared, but rather embraced as a natural part of our spiritual development. Whether it awakens through dedicated practice or spontaneous experiences, Kundalini energy serves as a bridge between our ordinary perception and the extraordinary reality of divine consciousness.
The key lies in understanding that true spirituality isn’t about ethereal concepts, but about tangible changes in our psychophysical system. When approached with proper preparation and understanding, this transformative force can reveal the profound truth that has always been there – that every aspect of existence, from the mundane to the magnificent, is a direct expression of divine intelligence. As you embark on your own spiritual journey, remember that awakening Kundalini energy isn’t the goal itself, but rather a natural outcome of sincere spiritual practice and the evolution of consciousness.
